As a child I always stared out of the school window thinking: there must be more to life than this. When I was ten, a small Yamaha organ entered the Bast house. It knocked me out immediately. Love at first sight! All my creativity, all my emotions, went into that Japanese piece of magic.
Ruud Jansen, my first organ teacher, was a great source of inspiration for me. He was the one who dragged me onto the stage and let me experience what it is like to be a musician.
Years later, during my conservatory study, many heroes were added: Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Rick Wakeman, Steve Winwood. Jazz, pop, rock, it didn't matter, everything went smoothly. The following years I surrounded myself with more and more keyboards, both vintage and new. Perhaps because of the wonderful experience with my very first organ, the Hammond has always had a special place in my heart.
One day studio boss Toni Peroni asked me to play in the hit formation City To City. With that, I became a professional musician. I played with Thé Lau, The Scene, Het Goede Doel, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Direct, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, Sarah Bettens and many more.
When Rob asked me to join Milky Way Gas Station, I immediately said yes. This band is an oasis of opportunities. Lots of room for experimentation, epic synthesizer solos and… a screaming Hammond organ!
